Runner’s Feedback

Subject: First Marathon
Just wanted to let you know that the Maui Marathon was my first marathon and I now know that I made an excellent choice. The race was well organized, support groups were great, expo was fun, carbo load was filling and announcers were entertaining. It was a challenging course for me and right after I finished I told my wife–not again. Within 48 hours, I change my mind. I will be back next year. Thanks again to everyone associated with the marathon, you all made my first marathon memorable.

First of all, please let me thank you for all your support during the Maui Marathon. What a wonderful experience. It is truly one of the most scenic marathons, I ever ran. Furthermore, you and your team did an outstanding job, from the carbo load party at the Westin, to the 5K Run, The Front Street Mile to the actual Maui Marathon and Half Marathon!

I can (and will) highly recommend it in the article which I am preparing for “Running Magazine”, Germany’s No 1 running publication (Running Magazine has agreed to publish a 4 page article in their next special edition in October). Can you therefore possibly provide me with some actual race images (eg. the keiki hula band, 2-3 race images along the course, image of Jacob Rotich and some other images, which you might find appropriate), as well as the official logo of the Maui Marathon at your earliest convenience? Thank you very much (deadline for the article is Sep27).

I am sorry that I had missed you at the awards party (I didn’t realize that I had won an award, but if you could possible forward it to Lynn and/or Terryl from MVB, I would very much appreciate it, since I will be seeing them in a few weeks from now in London for World Travel Market). Again, congratulations for a wonderful event.

Subject: Thanks For The Great Marathon
The scenery was great, the ice cold sponges were fantastic, the organization and volunteers were first class, and the nice pleasing medal does stand out. And the site (Maui) was special.

Thank you very much for a great marathon experience. I wore the T-shirt while flying back and it was appropriate for my 1st class (Frequent flyer points ticket).

This was a wild whirlwind of a trip for us. We flew about 16 hours total on Friday/Saturday the 17th and 18th and left again the 19th! It was my 20th marathon on my 40th birthday. It was an adventure we will never forget.

I wanted to send some feedback to the race organizers:
First – most beautiful course I have ever done.
Second the start time recognizes how much we appreciated running as much as we could before the sun came up.
Third – the water stations – the volunteers were fabulous!!! MOST IMPORTANT – I felt the number of stations especially towards the finish was critical to my health. Thank you for recognizing how critical it was to the runners to have water, sponges etc available so often. I know you have done this for many years however, I also know how hard it is to organize aid stations. The heat really slowed my time down( at least I am using that as an excuse) but the amount of water available allowed me to recover quickly and have the rest of the day to enjoy the beauty of this extraordinary place!!
Thanks for all your work.

Dianne
