Joints In Motion
The Maui Marathon and Half Marathon is pleased to welcome Joints in Motion to Maui. Joints in Motion is an athletic training and fundraising program benefiting the Arthritis Foundation. On behalf of the Arthritis Foundation, participants raise funds and awareness to fight arthritis, the nation's number one cause of disability. Participants, in return, receive 18 - 20 weeks of individualized training to run or walk a marathon in exciting locations. They also enjoy the inspiration of group training environment; receive nutritional information, injury prevention counseling and the opportunity to help the nearly 46 million American adults plus 300,000 children with some form of doctor-diagnosed arthritis. Tourette Syndrome Association
Join Team TSA and help the Tourette Syndrome Association get One Lap Closer To A Cure. TSA is a national non-profit health organization with chapters across the country. In addition to funding a world-wide cutting edge research program to identify a cause and find a cure, TSA is dedicated to raising awareness, providing education programs and services for people living with TS and their families. This complex neurobiological disorder can begin in children as young as five. Everyday, TSA is touched by the stories of children and adults living with TS. The Wellness Community
The Wellness Community is dedicated to serving cancer patients and their loved ones by helping them enhance their health and well-being through participation in a professional program of emotional support, education, and hope - all completely free of charge. Through FREE weekly support groups, exercise classes, nutrition lunches, networking groups, creativity workshops, doctor lectures, and more, The Wellness Community provides the tools for cancer patients to play an active role in their fight for recovery! The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a national non-profit health agency dedicated to seeking the cause and cure for leukemia, multiple myeloma, Hodgkins disease, and the lymphomas, while improving the lives of patients and their families. The Society provides funding for research, public and professional education, patient aid and community service programs. The 2004 Maui Marathon had 330 participants from the society, raising over $1.3 million from the Maui Marathon alone! For 2005 we anticipate 350 raising $1.4 million for research. Team Asha
Team Asha is a secular organization dedicated to change in India by focusing on basic education in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change. In keeping with this focus, their volunteers are involved with and support projects that are secular and have an education-related component to them. Till date, Asha has supported more than 385 different projects spanning 24 states in India. In terms of project funding, almost $4,000,000 has been disbursed to these projects since Asha's inception. Charities Challenge
Charities Challenge (CC) is a unique charitable team training program whose mission is to improve health and fitness, reduce health risks, and enhance disease management through goal-oriented training programs.

CC also advocates and raises funds to benefit a variety of special health causes, such as arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart and lung diseases, depression, and more. CC especially wants to help those health related charities which have "Taken the Challenge" to also lead healthful and effective exercise as part of their mission to benefit themselves and their constituents health. Justgiving.com helps participants raise more money with less hassle. Participants set up their own online Personal Fundraising Page where they tell their story and describe their passion for fundraising with their own pictures and text. They invite their family, friends and colleagues to visit their page and support them by making a secure online donation. All monies raised will be divided among all the Maui Marathon charities listed below. The Foundation Fighting Blindness
The second annual group of volunteers running for The Foundation Fighting Blindness has grown from 2 in 2005 to 18 runners this year. The urgent mission of The Foundation Fighting Blindness, Inc. is to drive the research that will provide preventions, treatments and cures for people affected by an entire spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases.
