The 37th Maui Marathon, 4th Maui Half Marathon and 11th Maui Tacos 5K are only a few days away. In this newsletter we will provide some last-minute reminders, running tips, packet pickup information and general information on what's happening during the Maui Marathon race weekend. The following is a summary of the weekend activities. See the weekend summary information, race weekend faq information and hotel/condo distance guide for more details.

The confirmation lists were updated on 9/1/07 for the 2007 Maui Marathon, Maui Half Marathon, Maui Tacos 5K and the world famous Carbo Luau for all entries received through 9/1/07. See if your name is listed. If you still have not registered, please do so today. Online registration closes on Tuesday September 11 and all mail-in registrations must be postmarked by September 11. After that, registration will only be possible at the Race Expo on Friday 9/14 and Saturday 9/15. 2007 - 2008 Rollovers are now closed.

Friday September 14

• Sports & Fitness Expo and packet pickup for all events: 1:00pm-8:00pm - Valley Isle Ballroom - The Westin Maui (Some of the exhibitors for 2007 include: Runners Paradise - the latest in running shoes, Go Cycling Maui, California Triathlete-athletic accessories, Fit For Sports - sports apparel, Marathon Foto, Massages, Maui Marathon Logo Wear, Hawaiian crafters and Juice Plus - vitamin supplements)
• Carbo Luau 6:00pm - The Westin Maui - this event is expected to sell out. (If you have purchased tickets you must stop by the carbo/info desk at the expo to pick up your ticket).

• Maui Tacos 5K Fun Run - 8:00am - Whalers Village (no packet pickup available Saturday morning) - for more Maui Tacos 5K Information
• 5K Awards Ceremony - 9:00am - Whalers Village, Center Stage
• Sports & Fitness Expo and packet pickup for all events: 9:00am-6:00pm (last chance to pickup Marathon and Half Marathon packets - no Sunday pickup) - Valley Isle Ballroom - The Westin Maui
• The Run Forrest Run Front Street Mile - 3:00pm-5:00pm - Front St. in Lahaina - for more Front Street Mile Information

• Start Line Bus Departure for full marathon only - 3:30am - Start line bus departure from Kaanapali Parkway in front of The Westin Maui and Whalers Village, for the Marathon only at 3:30am. Participants only, please.
• Return buses to Queen Kaahumanu Center (marathon start) from Whalers Village front area will depart beginning at 10:00am and continue every half hour until the final bus at 1:30pm. For more start/finish information! and Course support information.
• 37th Annual Maui Marathon - 5:30am Start - Queen Kaahumanu Center - for more Maui Marathon Information including course support details, viewing locations, maps, busing, lost and found etc.
• Fourth Annual Maui Half Marathon - 5:30am Start - Whalers Village - for more Maui Half Marathon Information
• Maui Half Marathon Awards Ceremony - 9:00am - Whalers Village Center Stage
• Finishers Party & Maui Marathon Awards Ceremony - 4:30pm-6:30pm - The Westin Maui - Aloha Pavilion

• This year all finishers certificates will be available through the web. There will be no finishers certificates available on site.

Parking within Kaanapali Resort is very limited. We highly recommend walking to all marathon-related resort wide events when feasible. See our hotel/condo walking distance guide. Otherwise, we recommend car pooling. The Westin Maui may have some valet spaces available (The Westin Maui's valet parking is $10) as well as the option of paid parking at the Whalers Village parking garage. Complimentary parking is available (follow event parking signs) at the top of Kekaa Drive on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with complimentary shuttles available to and from the top .

Shuttles will run as follows from the top of Kekaa Drive to Kaanapali Parkway either to The Westin Maui Ballroom entrance or the Whalers Village parking garage area (a 700' walk from The Westin Maui);

• Friday- 12:30pm-8:30pm
• Saturday- 6:30am-6:30pm
• Sunday- 3:15am-7:00pm (shuttle break from 2:00pm - 4:00pm)

Live and final results, photos and stories will be posted on the mauimarathon.com web site throughout the weekend.

Whalers Village Shopping Center is one of Maui's most popular places for shopping, dining, live entertainment and all-around good times by the sea.

Stay all day and night: Shop, play and dine day and nite on Maui's only premier beachfront shopping village. Check out our ever changing calendar of free events and activities. It's posted at the Village and is available from your hotel concierge.

Something for all ages: Stay together, or split up and go a dozen different ways; shop, dine, be entertained, learn crafts, go to a museum, relax on the beach.

Whalers Village Museum: Visit the internationally-renowned Whalers Village Museum, consisting of hundreds of artifacts and rare scrimshaw pieces. It's free to the public and it is experienced by nearly a quarter-million visitors each year, making it one of Maui's top attractions.

Rudy Huber, Director of The Annual Front Street Mile in Lahaina, has announced that Bubba Gump Maui has become the major sponsor of the Front Street Mile. The name of this year's event will be The Run Forrest Run Front Street Mile. Bubba Gump plans to be a long term sponsor of an event that has proved to be a great community event for the kids and a world class event for the nation's top milers.

However, adults of all ages and running abilities are invited to join in the open or masters division fun!

Join in the fun, September 15th starting at 3:00 pm at Cheeseburgers in Paradise (check-in is at 1:30 pm in front of Bubba Gumps.) to watch or have fun participating in the Run Forrest Run Front Street Mile!

We just wanted to let you know that we will be at the event taking photos to record your achievement. Please remember to do two things to make this work well:

1. Smile when you see the photographers!
2. Make sure your bib number is clearly centered and visible so we will be able to identify you after the race.

With only about a week to go until race day, you should have wrapped up your marathon or half marathon training. Take a moment and check you have met all of your goals along the way. Enjoy some light runs and plenty of stretching routines. concentrate on your diet and hydration. Try to limit your coffee and alcohol intake. There will be plenty of opportunity for that post-race.
